GRAPHIC DESIGN PROGRAM
FACILITY
The Graphic Design Program is available at the main campus in Southfield only. The building, located at 19900 W. Nine Mile Rd., occupies approximately 39,000 square feet of space. Students have the advantage of having classrooms, the production room, faculty, and the Learning Resource Center available all in one location. Specs Howard School meets with advisory boards made up of industry professionals who provide information that helps our programs and facility evolve with the industry.
As a graphic design student, you'll be provided with a MacBook® loaded with the Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium® (Photoshop®, Illustrator®, InDesign®, Dreamweaver®, and Flash®), to use throughout the length of the program.* Plus, you’ll get a jump on building your own reference library with the number of textbooks you’ll receive throughout the course of the program. These too are included in your tuition and are yours to keep.
Graphic Design Lab & Mat Room
You’ll also have access to the graphic design lab (Wi-Fi, color printer, mat supplies, and graphics production room) without paying extra lab fees. Fridays are open lab from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.
However, you may need to provide the following school supplies yourself:
- A storage device (CDs, jump drive, or external hard drive)
- A sketchpad
- Portfolio
- Notebooks & pens
We advise installing a high-speed Internet connection in your home in order to successfully complete the online portion of the program. However, the MacBook® you will be using throughout the program has built-in wireless capabilities, so you may access our online learning system through any available wireless connection.
*Important note: The MacBook® and Adobe® software are provided to students on loan from Specs Howard School. At the program's conclusion, students have the option of purchasing the MacBook® for a reduced price without the Adobe® software.
The Learning Resource Center
Located at the Southfield campus, the Learning Resource Center is a staffed facility providing all Specs Howard students (including students who attend class at the satellite location) with access to computers, WiFi, books and periodicals related to each curriculum, and training videos by Virtual Training Corp. to augment their education.
